Setting Up Free Programs & Events
When to Use Free Programs & Events
Efforts to grow your Region or to introduce AYSO to other parts of your community may include offering a single-day or weekend event at no charge to the participants. Sports Connect offers a Program type to accommodate free events. Note this Program Type is NOT integrated with the AYSO Association Platform and as a result, no AYSO waivers are automatically presented to participants. Please use this Program Type carefully to prevent creating liability for the Region, its volunteers or the organization.
How to Use Free Programs & Events
Step 1 Program Settings
To create a free event, start with Registration>Registration Forms>Add Program.
In Program Settings, choose Soccer. Name your Event and provide a description.
Step 2 Division Settings
You must add a minimum of one division in order for participants to register. You can update to coed and expand birth years to include everyone.
Step 3 Registration Questions
To add the standard general liability waiver required for ALL participants in every kind of event, click Display Standard Questions button.
To insert the AYSO Disclaimer and Assumption of Risk Waiver, set Player Verification Waiver to Required, this will automatically check the Added box. Click Save.
This will open the Player Verification Waiver details page. Copy and paste the contents of the AYSO Disclaimer and Assumption of Risk Waiver into the text box and Save.
When NOT to Use Free Programs & Events
Do not use Free Programs & Events for:
- Volunteer or board member registration
- Try outs
- Travel teams or secondary play
- EPIC or any program underwritten by a sponsor intended to make participation free
Each of these opportunities can be set up inside sports connect within the integrated programs that present the correct waivers, send required information to the Association Platform and manage player and volunteer eligibility.
