Youth Referees and 1099 Information
Currently Stack Officials utilizes Stripe Payments for sending Referee payments. Stripe has some of their own requirements outside of Stack Officials.
For Minors:
AYSO prohibits payment of Officials under the age of 14 years of age. The initial set-up within Stack Officials must list an ADULT with adult's name and tax id. Stripe will verify the owner of the account. Once the verification step is completed, the Tax Info Page can be updated to opt into a digital or paper 1099, and update the tax ID to the Youth Referee. Once updated, the 1099-NEC will be issued in the Youth Referee's name.
Help Document: Tax Reporting for Under-18 Officials
Coming soon, by end of April 2025
- Both minors and adults will fill out a W-9 form on Stack Officials.
- All 2025 calendar year 1099-NEC forms will be accessible from a Stack Officials profile.
UPDATE: PAYMENT ELIGIBILITY & TAX INFO
Update from Stack Officials from May 20, 2025
We're improving the tax process for anyone receiving payments through Stack Officials. Soon, both minors and adults will be required to enter their taxpayer information directly within the platform. All 1099-NEC forms will be generated using payment details from Stripe and verified tax information submitted through Stack Officials.
Here’s what you need to know.
- Crew members are still required to enter personal information when setting up their payout account. This is a standard part of onboarding and ensures they can receive payments.
- All minors and adults alike will enter their taxpayer info directly on Stack Officials through a secure and easy-to-use W9 form. This form will soon become a requirement to remain eligible for payment.
- If either of these steps is incomplete, the familiar money sign status symbol will indicate that the crew member is not currently eligible to be paid. On their end, they will see a banner, prompting them to update their tax information or complete their payout account setup, depending on what’s missing.
No action is required from Admins at this time.
We will communicate directly with individuals who are missing required tax information so they have time to complete the required steps before enforcement goes into effect. Also, we'll make sure to keep you informed about the upcoming changes to ensure you’re aware of the process.
