Thank you for Volunteering to Coach. For the best possible experience for you and your players, we ask you to complete the following training.

Safety Training Requirements

For the protection of the players, volunteers and participants, we ask all AYSO volunteers to complete the state and Federally mandated safety training. Through AYSOU, volunteers can access and complete:

  • CDC Concussion Awareness Training
  • Sudden Cardiac Arrest Training (CA, TN, OH, WA)
  • AYSO's Safe Haven - Child & Volunteer protection guidelines

Coach Courses

Prior to Team assignment, coaches are required to take the age-specific training course, some courses have a classroom component that in many cases can be completed online and a field component. More advanced coaching courses also have prerequisites.

  • Playground/Schoolyard Activity Leader Online OR Full In-Person course (3,4,5 year-olds).
  • 6U Coach Online OR Full In-Person course (5,6 year-olds).
  • 8U Coach Online OR Full In-Person course (7,8 year-olds).
  • 10U Coach Online + In-Person Field Session OR Full-In Person 10U Course (9,10 year-olds).
  • Online 12U Coach Pre-Course AND 12U Coach Part 2 In-Person Course
  • Online Intermediate 14U Coach Pre-Course AND Intermediate14U Coach Part 2 In-Person Course. Summary of the Laws of the Game Online and 12U Coach certification are prerequisites.
  • Online Advanced 16U-19U Coach Pre-Course AND Advanced16U-19U Coach Part 2 In-Person Course. Intermediate 14U Coach is a prerequisite.
