Paid Coaches and Trainers
AYSO is proud to be a volunteer-powered organization, and we deeply value the time, energy, and passion our volunteers bring to every field, team, and community. At the same time, we recognize that there are moments when specialized skills or services are needed to help us deliver the best possible soccer experience for our youth.
To support this goal, AYSO allows its Regions, Areas, Sections, and programs to hire paid service providers when necessary. These services might include coaching, refereeing, training, field services, or other support that enhances our programs in ways that volunteers alone may not be able to provide.
To ensure everything is done responsibly and in alignment with AYSO’s mission and nonprofit status, there are clear guidelines in place:
- All paid services must follow National Policy Statement 2.5 outlined under Outside Paid Services.
- Referees are managed through Stack Officials.
- Coaches, Trainers, and Sole Practitioners providing services directly to a Region must go through First Touch Coaching.
These steps help ensure that all federal and state tax, labor, and employment laws are followed, mitigating significant financial and legal liability - protecting both AYSO and the volunteers who approve these arrangements. By following these protocols, we reduce risk and uphold the integrity of our organization while continuing to offer high-quality soccer experiences to our players.
First Touch Coaching
AYSO has partnered with First Touch to provide search, screening and placement services for Coaches and Trainers, or if you have a coach or trainer you can onboard them with First Touch. First Touch Soccer provides high quality trainers who bring enthusiasm, knowledge and fun to the game.
To request a coach or paid trainer, reach out to info@firsttouchcoaching.com.
To onboard a coach, trainer or administrator, have them start by completing the Onboarding Form.
